March & April Classes

Chalk Pastel Drawing-flower bouquet
Students in the class will experience the beauty of spring flowers, along with the pleasure of working with chalk pastels. Observational drawing and basic chalk pastel techniques will be covered. Students will use these skills when creating their own work of art.

Miniature Painting on Cardboard
Students in this class will explore the world of miniature as we create a tiny painting (5"x5" or smaller). Students will learn basic observational, sketching & color mixing skills, which they will use to create their painting. Think Georgia O'Keefe...in miniature!

Fauvist Portrait-cut paper
Using the Fauvist art movement for inspiration, students will use "wild colors" to create a cut paper portrait. These works of art will be started during this class & students can take their time & finish them at their own pace.
April & May Classes

Watercolor & Plastic...a painting experience
We will be exploring texture and watercolor in this class. Plastic wrap will be used to help create texture as students try different color combinations. Students can use this painting as a jumping off point to create a cut paper work of art (collage, cards, decorations) or just for a fun exploration of materials.

Watercolor Painting-an exploration of shapes & space
Using the art of Hundertwasser for inspiration, students will incorporate shapes and contour lines into their watercolor painting. Students in this class will learn basic color theory and brush techniques. This project may be started in class and completed at the leisure of the student.

Scratchboard-create your own
Scratchboard is so much fun and a huge hit with people of all ages. Students in the class will learn how to create their own scratchboard. Come prepared to, learn, have fun and walk away with your own scratchboard that is ready for you to use, as you create an amazing work of art!
